The magic of cold water therapy

I first met Wim at Summit at Sea in 2016. I started to practice the cold shower every morning since.

It is only a year ago that I decided to join Wim at his method center in the Netherlands to experience a weekend with him.

I have to be honest, as I had been practicing cold shower for years when I jumped in this experience, I really thought this would be an easy task for me.

The reality is that the difference between some cold -not freezing- water covering partially my body in the shower versus my body immersed in a two celsius degree water has nothing to be compared. The shock when I first jumped in the ice bath was so violent that the first thoughts that came into my mind was related to direct danger, not even fear, something much stronger that comes deep from a survival instinct. This where my shower practice happened to be useful, I directly started to breathe deeply in order to calm my mind. I instructed my body that I was not danger and took control on my mind. Slowly I got into a meditative checkup, where I started to observe and feel how my body was reacting to the freezing water. Of course it was an unusual and pretty uncomfortable sensation, but I could tell that I wasn't in so much danger that I first thought when I arrived in the water. Becoming reassured, I could slow down my mind and let go of everything that wasn't directly related to the present moment.

Through my meditation, I managed to stay 10 minutes in the cold water. I concentrate on my breath, enjoying how the fresh oxygen was travelling through my lungs to my heart, before to spread some warm energy into my blood and being then distributed to each cell of my body. Nothing could then matter than being part of this process, each breath was getting me deeper and deeper. I am so grateful that Wim was just next to me, I could also feel his positive and strong masculine energy supporting me in this process.

I am so grateful that I got the chance to meet Wim and experience this with him. I can only warmly recommend it :)
